This renovated Norwegian cabin has a great mix of modern and traditional elements. Situated on a hill, the house's strategically placed glass 'walls' take advantage of long-range views. Spare, light, and having a supply of Icelandic sheepskins to cozy up with, I can see this making the winter here seem a little less like an endurance test - which it does at times - and more like a long season to be savored .

ReplyDeleteSo beautiful!! It would make even me love the winter weather and skiing! That painted black chest is too die for and the sheepskin benches are fabulous! I would love to be there for a week! Maybe a month! I grew up in Denver for a while so I'm a little gun shy of the snow! I remember it all too well! And I'm the world's worst skier! I wish I could ski gracefully and enjoy it! No matter, this house was fabulous! Hope you are doing well! Thanks for your sweet comments earlier!

ReplyDeleteIts a love for me. Wow its so sophisticated yet warm, inviting and oozy...all the elements of a great ski house. I swear I just might not leave if this were mine! Beautiful, it could make long winters more than bareable!
ReplyDeleteWow. I don't think I would ski here. I would just sit inside all day drinking wine (or hot chocolate), under a blanket, reading shelter magazines and thinking how happy I am to be there. :)

Normally that much wood panelling would make me feel claustrophobic but this cottage manages to feel light and airy and warm at the same time. A clever combination of minimilist and cozy. I would happily spend a holiday here. x Sharon

ReplyDeleteI married a ski racer and this is year number 8 that we will trek to the same mountain and while we rent for the Winter ski season, I could see my own ski house looking just like that one....I have a pinterest board for my ski house inspiration.....
I love all the seasons, but having had the time to sharpen my skiing and learning to wax skiis is something of a cultish club.

ReplyDeletePhyllis I can't keep up! I have a chandelier earmarked for our home as per your suggestions...and now, I need to re-decorate our chalet;) Or, maybe just purge the stuff! My favourite item on display (that I will never toss) are a pair of small wooden skiis that were my mother's first pair used growing up in Quebec:)
